The 8th Chania Film Festival will take place from October 21st till October 31st 2020 in Chania, Crete.
The Chania Film Festival has no competition section.
The Chania Film Festival includes AUDIENCE AWARDS. The CFF holds sole responsibility for the sound procedure of voting and counting.
Participating films might be included either in the screening program as Nominations for Audience Award 8th CFF or as 8th CFF Official Selections. The classification will be determined by the Chania Film Festival.
Participation in the Chania Film Festival screening program does not entail exclusivity in screenings of the participating films and does not require the films to premiere in the Festival.
The deadline for film submissions is May 17th 2020. Qualified filmmakers will be informed via e-mail by July 31st 2020.
Films submitted must be produced in the past three years (2017-2020).
The Chania Film Festival includes fiction films, documentaries, and animation.
Films less than 10 minutes of duration are considered very short films, 10–50minutes are considered short films and films over 50 minutes are considered full feature.
For the preliminary stage of selection, all submissions must include a preview copy of the film on YouTube or Vimeo link, along with the password.

Greek-speaking films must have English subtitles applied (hard-coded).
Non-greek speaking films without embedded Greek subtitles must be sent with no subtitles accompanied by a separate file with the English subtitles in .srt format.
A trailer with English subtitles should be sent along with full press kit (film stills, summary, crew, poster etc.) for promotional purposes.

Files must to be sent in USB stick or hard disc (will be returned if required after the festival).
All material must be received by August 25 2020.
The Chania Film Festival retains the right – with the agreement of the creators (director, producer) - to screen part of the participating films in parallel CFF events after the end of the Festival.
The Chania Film Festival will cover hospitality expenses of the participating filmmakers for two overnights.
The Chania Film Festival retains the right to reject any submission on the following conditions: a) the submission is incomplete, b) the material is sent overdue, and c) the content of the film is offensive and promotes hate speech.
The Chania Film Festival retains the right to reject any material not compatible to its identity and mission.
The Chania Film Festival decides and is responsible for the screening schedule of the films (day and hour) during the Festival’ s period.
The Chania Film Festival has the right to use the trailers or parts of the participating films for promotional purposes.
Participants are expected to give interviews to the Festival’s communication team and to media sponsors and to be available for photo shootings if asked.
Part of the Festival will be filmed for archive and promotional purposes. Participants and the audience whose presence is obvious in the audiovisual documentation, have no rights or demands toward the Festival, as far as this footage is concerned.
Participation in the Chania Film Festival implies acceptance of the above regulations.
